About the event
From Dreamtime to Springtime...
We've travelled through the dreamtime in these weeks since the Winter Solstice and now February's new moon brings the celebration of Imbolc. This is the time known for holding the whispers of springtime. It is often considered the time of really planting our dreams and seeds for the year.
Stories are a big part of Imbolc as, although the daylight is increasing, the cold and dark still dominates and old traditions would have gathered by the firelight and shared stories as communities.
We have decided that to celebrate this time we will be honouring the traditions to tell stories but within a modern-world twist. Instead of holding an Imbolc dance we will be hosting an online gathering via Zoom to sit together and share stories of dance.
It will be an opportunity to be in wonderful company whilst in the comfort of our own homes; a valuable time to share the stories and reflections of our dances that are sometimes too raw or too hard to put into words when we are fresh from the dancefloor.
The space will be structured and encouraged to be approached much like our in-person dances - entering a ceremonial space that is deserving of our full attention to ourselves and those that are present.
We will approach the time together by being in a virtual circle, asking that only one person speaks at a time and that what is shared in the group stays there unless it is your own stories. The circle will be a closed space so there will be a cut off time for people joining the call and we ask that if you attend you treat it like you were attending a physical event and give yourself the space and time to dive in.
**Please note that this will not be an online dance. It will be a sharing circle. There will be a small playlist for people to enjoy as part of our time together and to take with them afterwards.
This event is open to anyone even if you've never danced with us before. If you're curious to know more about the dance and learn from those who attend regularly this circle could be ideal. We also welcome those from further afield - dancers who may have physically moved away or those who aren't able to dance with us regularly but are interested in what we offer.
For this session the exchange is £25* (extra fees apply if booking via the website. BACS and PayPal options remove fees - please contact us for more information)
*For our dancers who have attended the latest Stories series there is a £5 discount.
